Our Founder, Ted Gatlin Jr., is a proud ghraduate of University City Senior High School in St. Louis, MO. It was there that he began a path of leadership and personal growth. During his time at U-City, he participated in extracurricular activities from Football and Wrestling to Choir and Yearbook. His experiences there allowed him to see that he could really be and do anything he wanted in life.
Ted went to the local HBCU - Harris-Stowe State College (now University) and although he ended up transferring to complete his degree, he considered that experience and that institution to be his Alma Mater. He grew up the most during his time at Harris-Stowe, and made life long friends and connections.
It is because of his thoughts around his experience at an HBCU that has prompted him to create this small scholarship. His goal is to help ease the burden that a U-City student may have while doing what he would call "the Lord's work" of attending an HBCU.
